This week, members of the Inbetweeners Golf Society gathered at Alicante Golf Course for another competitive day of golf, plenty of good humour and, as usual, a healthy dose of optimism and selective memory.
The morning started surprisingly warm following the storms in the days before, but it soon became clear that the recent weather had left its mark on the course.
The fairways were exceptionally wet in places, with plenty of moisture underfoot, making conditions a little more challenging and adding an extra test to an already competitive round.

Thankfully, the weather improved as the day went on, bringing glorious sunshine and a gentle breeze, which made for much more enjoyable conditions as the round progressed.
Alicante Golf Course was looking in excellent shape considering the recent storms and the amount of rain it had endured.

However, the wet conditions and tricky greens provided plenty of frustration. Their subtle breaks had even the most confident putters second-guessing themselves, turning seemingly straightforward putts into a collection of memorable three-putts.
As always, the round delivered its usual mixture of golfing brilliance and shots that were quickly erased from memory.

There were some moments of genuine quality, proving that there is still plenty of good golf within the group, while other shots were best left unexplained.
But with plenty of laughs, good company and the all-important bragging rights at stake, it was another thoroughly enjoyable day out for the Inbetweeners Golf Society.

Despite the wet course and challenging conditions, the spirits remained high, the banter flowed freely, and no doubt a few questionable shots will soon be remembered rather differently when the stories are retold!
